Ilton Caldeira holds twenty years of experience in financial journalism. He is one of the founding members of Valor Econômico, the leading Brazilian business newspaper, where he covered capital markets, personal finance and corporations under different roles. He has also served as the paper’s deputy editor on technology and IT (2000-2010). In 2010 he became the business editor at iG portal, one of Brazilian largest online news platforms. Three years later, he worked as communication director at the State Government of Sao Paulo (Planning and Regional Development Secretariat), where he established a media strategy to showcase the government’s most significant public works, including its entire PPP portfolio.

He was recognized with the 2001 BM&FBOVESPA Journalism Award and the 2002 National Association of Investors in Capital Markets (ANIMEC) Award for his work on corporate disputes in publicly traded companies. In 2012, he ranked second in the Citi Journalism Awards for Excellence, a global program that recognizes meritorious business and finance reporting around the world. Award recipients are selected by the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Graduated in Journalism, he has recently completed an MBA in International Relations at Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV-SP) (2015).
